Welcome to our online service. This service is a replica of our in person service at 11am. If you are planning on joining in person, please bring a mask for singing. Sunday Zone is running and they will be following the same theme.
If you are coming in person today, after the service we ask the members to stay for a short members meeting where there will be a membership application and an update on church life and finances, plus chance for discussion.
AGM
Our AGM is 21st November 2021 after the service - papers will be available before the meeting. We have vacancies for deacons and elders and one deacon up for re-election - more details will follow nearer the time.
We would encourage all members to attend these members meeting if they can. Non-members are welcome, but will not be able to vote. If you are interested in membership please speak to Claire or one of the deacons.
Prayer Course
Every Monday (with a break for half term) we are running The Prayer Course on Zoom at 8pm and at 2pm in person on Mondays. This is an 8 week course that will help you to grow and deepen your prayer life and it is based on the Lord's Prayer. See the intro video below.
For the zoom link, please contact us and we will send it to you.
Chatterbox Stay and Play
Chatterbox is now on its third week and runs on Tuesdays at 1.15pm-2.45pm. Please pray for the team as we re-connect with families and welcome new ones.
Worship
Call to Worship
(inspired by Genesis 22: 1-14; Micah 6:8; Deuteronomy 6:5)
What does the Lord require of you?
To do justice, and to love kindness,
and to walk humbly with our God.
What does God command of us?
To love God with all our heart,
and all our soul,
and all our mind,
and all our strength,
and to love our neighbour as ourselves.
God does not call us to ease or to comfort.
But to presence, and abundance,
and grace in our struggle.
Let us worship the God who believes in us,
and trusts in us, and abides with us.
Let us worship the God who will ask much of us,
but will be beside us every step of the way.
Songs for today
You might want to save the last two for before and after the sermon
Listening
Are you good at listening? Have a go at this quiz and see how good you are
Our story today is a story of our how the King of Judah is not listening. He has his fingers in his ears, and he doesn't want to listen to what God is saying.
How good are you at listening to what God is saying? How might you be more attentive to his voice?
Take some time to think about the things that God has been saying to you over the last few months. How has he been reassuring you? What has he been challenging you with? Perhaps share some of these things with someone else from the church family.
Word
Our sermon today is based on Jeremiah 36. You can read it here
