Sunday 13th September - Come and See

Welcome to our service today which is all about the first disciples and their encounters with Jesus in John 1.

This afternoon at 3pm we have our first in-person all age service aimed at families with children. If you are planning on coming we'd ask that you arrive early and wear a mask unless you are exempt. Normal social distancing rules apply.

As we are encouraged not to mingle after in person services and so we can spend a bit of time together, however we are choosing to worship at the moment, we will continue to meet on zoom at 12.15pm. The link is here

On Wednesday 23rd September we will be holding a church members meeting at 8pm. The current plan is to meet at the building in person with the opportunity to zoom in if you are not able to do that. If neither of these work, then we will ensure you receive the information and chance for feedback before the meeting will be provided. The plan is to review the last six months and look ahead. We also have some finance info to share with you and applications for membership. More details to follow. If you are a church member we'd encourage you to attend if you can.

Our Harvest festival will be on Sunday 27th September when we are planning (weather permitting) an outdoor afternoon service at 3pm. Food donations will go to NightWatch who work with homeless people in Croydon. More details on the kind of donations they need will follow. We'll also be celebrating online.

Worship

Come and see, come and see!

Come and see for yourselves who this Jesus person is!

Come and see, come and see!

Come with open hearts to experience Jesus.

Come and see, come and see!

Come and follow Jesus

Come and see, come and see!

Come and deepen your relationship with God.

Come and see, come and see!

Come and follow Jesus.

Songs for today - you might want to save a couple for towards the end

What stories do you have to tell about Jesus? What stories do you have to tell about your encounters with Jesus? How do you know Jesus loves you? Tell the people you are with or write your story down or a draw a picture explaining it.

Here is CEO of the Evangelical Alliance explaining a little about what knowing Jesus means to him.

Prayers

This weekend is forecast to be nice, so it's a good time to get out into our community and enjoy the green spaces. As we travel through our community, it's a good time to pray. Watch this video which gives you some ideas of how you might pray and walk. Then, when you have finished this morning's service, or later on in the day, walk out and pray for our community and the people who are part of it. If you are not able to go out, spend sometime looking out of your front door or window and praying for the things you see as well as your neighbours.

Word

Our sermon today is brought by our minister Claire. You will find it helpful to read John 1:35-51 first
